President¡¦s Message

Well another year has passed and it¡¦s been an interesting one. We started out the year with snow and ice, moved to record heat and drought, and so far the winter has been considerably warmer than most. Weather is one thing we can¡¦t do much about except adapt to what Mother Nature throws at us. Something we do have control over is the choices we make in life. I made a choice over ten years ago to get more involved in OAHE. It has been one of the best choices I ever made. I have grown professionally and personally through my involvement on the board. Earlier this year I made another choice to step into a new position within my organization. It¡¦s a choice I never thought I would make but when opportunities present themselves you either have to take the risk or remain status quo. I encourage you to take a little risk and get more involved in OAHE and ASHE. I want to personally thank all the past and current OAHE officers for their support and friendship over the years. OAHE has helped me grow as an individual and provided a solid framework for my career.
We had a great Fall Meeting at the OHA annual convention. Bob Bartels with Safety Management Services provided a wonderful presentation on the physical environment. Bob is a great presenter and if you haven¡¦t had an opportunity to attend one of his sessions, I highly recommend you do. We¡¦ve had a great 2011 and know that 2012 will be even better. We wish everyone a Safe and Happy Holiday!!

Secretary¡¦s Message

Holiday Greetings to All! Hard to believe we¡¦ve made our way through another year. As Steven stated in his message, we started the year with enough snow to last a lifetime (in Enid two storms). Then the 100 plus degree days seemed like they would never end. The weather in Oklahoma is about as predictable as a teenager, you just never know. What we do know, is what a great year we all shared being a part of the OAHE. We really had some wonderful presentations this year as well as getting a chance to visit with one another and get to know each other a little better. I know from my perspective, the OAHE has been quite helpful to me in gaining a substantial amount of knowledge while building relationships with so many wonderful people. I have always believed our meetings give us all the opportunity to not only hear some pretty dynamic speakers but the chance to hear what others are doing at their facility¡¦s as well as realize we are all fighting some of the same battles. ƒº

As most of you know by now, I have changed where I call home as well as where I work. So far, so good! My wife and I feel blessed to be where we are right now both professionally and personally on our life journey. So, with change come a few bumps in the road. A small bump we have almost worked out is getting you all the CEU¡¦s from our Summer and Fall 2011 presentations. I have been working very closely with my new assistant on this and we should be sending those to Shelly Bush at the OHA office by the end of this week. Shelley will get those sent to each of you at your facility. The Summer meeting will provide four (4) hours and the Fall meeting will provide a total of nine (9) hours. We would like to send a BIG thank you to John Holderman for stepping up and taking the reins as our Engineer Program Chair for the Association. Your officers will be getting together in early January at John¡¦s facility in Broken Arrow to get our 2012 calendar ready. Thanks John! A tremendous year in 2011 and we all look forward to 2012. My hope is for everyone to have a wonderful and ¡§FAMILY-FILLED¡¨ Holiday Season.

MERRY CHRISTMAS and HAPPY NEW YEAR!
